Case Study: Digital Assessment Centre Collaboration

A digital assessment centre collaboration with students from different backgrounds, programmes and universities

At SRS, we love working with university students to help boost their employability skills and confidence to tackle an employer’s assessment centre.

We recently worked with Aston University, Birmingham City University and the University of Derby on a collaborative digital assessment centre, which gave international students a realistic experience of an employer's assessment centre.

This collaboration aimed to build confidence and student aspirations towards global graduate opportunities. With a diverse range of students, the experience was made even more realistic; they would similarly be competing against a diverse range of candidates in a real assessment centre. The collaborative digital assessment centre also helped students to appreciate how transferable their skills and experience are to different roles and sectors, as well as developing their understanding of how to showcase this to an employer.

“I found the whole mock assessment process well organised, clear and thought provoking (for follow on student employability support). It was great to see the students delivering their presentation and participating in the group interview with other students and assessors. They all stepped out of their comfort zone and allowed the students to gain valuable feedback from assessors to support them with their future careers.”
Natalie Hawker, Careers Consultant, University of Derby

In our post-assessment centre survey, 100% of participants said they would recommend taking part in the event to other students. When asked how they felt about applying for future positions, there was an overall 51% increase in student confidence levels following completion of the assessment centre.
